Geneseo Elementary, Geneseo, NY
Geneseo Elementary School has “only just begun with their recycling efforts,” says Bobbie Steinhauer, Green Team Member.
The school kicked off it Geneseo Goes Green Project in September. Each grade created a banner that heralded the good things about recycling. The banners were displayed in the auditorium during the kick-off celebration. The principal recognized the efforts of two 2nd graders who led the charge for a school-wide recycling program.
The school of 450 students learned what acceptable for the green bins. The entire school sang “Reuse It, Renew It, Recycle It, Restore It.
The assembly ended with each classroom receiving its own recycling bin and every student got a reusable grocery bag donated by Wegman’s Grocery.
They are beginning with recycling but there is no end in sight for this elementary school.
